There are a couple of items that can easily be overlooked.
Remember that containers that held acutely hazardous waste (P-wastes and dioxin containing F-waste) are regulated unless properly emptied, which includes triple-rinsing and collection and management of the rinsate as a hazardous waste. Such containers must be tagged for collection by EHS.
Autoclave tape that has not been exposed to steam and heat in an autoclave will likely be characteristically hazardous for Pb (lead), and should not be disposed as ordinary trash. Inspectors have looked very closely at the use of autoclave tape during recent inspections. Tape that has not been through an autoclave cycle will look like regular masking tape (without any dark markings, usually hashes).
Disposable aerosol cans are regulated as a hazardous waste when disposed, even those seemingly innocuous such as canned air and whipped cream.
Circuit boards (often from lab instrumentation) are also regulated when disposed.
