These pictures are examples of variations in the types of fume hoods that you may see in a laboratory.

Exhibit A is a vertical sash hood. Exhibit B have combination vertical/horizontal sashes. The hood in the far right of exhibit B is an ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act) compliant fume hood for access by persons in a wheel chair. Notice the lower height of the air foil.

UNL does have a few “walk-in” or floor-mounted fume hoods on campus in Othmer and Hamilton Halls. The sash is segmented and comes all the way down to meet the floor.
