Overview
Reading an extinguisher tag:
- Look for year
- Look for punch indicating type of service (Serviced, New, Recharged)
- Look for month punched
Finally, it is important to know how to read the service tags on fire extinguishers on campus. These tags are not standard in the industry, but here at UNL almost all extinguishers are serviced by Summit. and this is how their tags look.
In the example image:
- The next service is due 1 year from the month and year indicated on the tag (#1, #3 in image).
- In this example service is due March 2020 (#2 in image indicates "Serviced").
