    • Chemical Safety (all 4 units)

Before your survey, review the EHS Assist training records either from Permit Data Summary or Building/Room/Contacts in EHSA and see if the PI and second contact have completed the required training. If the PI and/or secondary contact is deficient, this checklist item will be cited. The PI is responsible to see that all workers in the lab have appropriate training and this will be indicated in the inspection report.

When inspecting a BIO lab, we keep a roster of all lab members and verify they have completed the required Core and Chemical Safety Training.

RAD has its own training requirements and will cite training deficiencies as part of RAD audits.

When preparing for a survey, you will print a Permit Data Summary which will list the EHS training completed by those attached to the PI. Often only the PI and the primary/secondary contacts will be listed in the Chem permit under “Workers”. This is ok and we do not want to undertake cataloging all lab workers and tracking training. Just ensure that the PI/room owner and the primary/secondary contacts are listed in the Chem permit. If you are able to get a list of employees, it is ok to input it into EHS Assist, but this is not required.
