Handwashing sink is not available and/or handwashing supplies (soap, towels, hand sanitizer, etc.) are not available.
Personal hygiene in the laboratory is very important when working with any material, but especially so in biological labs where potential and known pathogens are handled. All labs should have a hand-washing sink and hand-washing materials available near the sink.
In lab spaces without a sink, hand sanitizer should be available as an interim measure of hand disinfection until a sink, soap and water can be used.
- There are spaces like this on campus and this in general has been authorized by the biosafety officer, if you are unsure, take notes and refer it to the BSO when you return to the office.
