Addendum and corrections to 43rd edition of the IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations
FEDEX WILL NO LONGER ACCEPT HANDWRITTEN SHIPPER'S DECLARATIONS
FedEx notified EHS that as of June 1, 2001, it will no longer accept
handwritten Shipper's Declarations. Details on items that can still
be handwritten and items that must be typed are provided in an EHS
announcement.
The new FedEx requirement is stated in the 2001 Dangerous Goods Regulations on page 43 as follows:
FX-12 Effective June 2001 FedEx Express will only accept Shipper's Declarations that are typewritten or computer generated. Handwritten forms will no longer be accepted.
Exception: Non-radioactive shipments may have the name and address of the shipper and consignee, air waybill, airport of departure/destination, RQ, Technical name, quantity, name/title, signature and place/date entered by hand on the declaration. RAM shipments may also have entered by hand the activity category (W-1, Y-II, or III), T1, and dimensions.
